FRANKLIN, Tenn.?? Alabama won its first women's golf title Friday in Franklin, Tenn., holding off two-time champion Southern California by a stroke in the four-round NCAA Division I championship.
Before collapsing on the back nine, the Trojans (20-over-par 1,172) led the Crimson Tide (19-over 1,171) by five strokes. Chirapat Jao-Javanil of Oklahoma won the individual title with a 6-under 282, four strokes ahead of runner-up Brooke Pancake of Alabama.
Colorado finished 18th (44-over 1,196) in the 24-team field, led by senior Emily Talley, who finished tied for 38th with a 9-over 297.
