Clint Eastwood Surprise Speaker at GOP Convention

"Dirty Harry" star Clint Eastwood will bring a touch of Hollywood glamour to the Republican National Convention on Thursday, jetting in as a surprise last-minute speaker to warm up the crowd for presidential candidate Mitt Romney, the CNN and Fox networks reported.

The Academy Award-winning actor and director endorsed Romney earlier this month, appearing at a fundraiser for him in Idaho.

Eastwood was reluctantly drawn into the 2012 campaign earlier this year when an ad by Chrysler, titled "Halftime in America," ran during halftime of the Super Bowl, narrated by Eastwood.

Many people thought it might have been an endorsement of President Barack Obama because Chrysler received a government bailout.

At the time, Eastwood said flatly that he was not endorsing either candidate, telling Fox he is "certainly not politically affiliated with Mr. Obama."

Small Business Marketing - Mission Partners Small Business ...

One of the nicest advantages of internet marketing is the availability of so many free site marketing opportunities. We all know about Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, blogging, and so many more. There is a lesser-known way to create free traffic, it is something simple and you probably aren?t taking full advantage of it: newsletter articles.

There are so many free methods of site traffic and you are probably putting in quite a bit of time and effort to keep them up and consistent before you actually see the benefits and rewards. Writing newsletter articles is a great way to get a jump start. If you have done any article marketing you already know how to write the articles, the only difference is where you are submitting your articles. The most difficult part of the process is finding someone who will publish your articles, and that really isn?t that hard. It is a little time consuming, but it is worth it as the results are practically immediate.

This is how the process works: Newsletter editors always need quality content, particularly so if the newsletter is published frequently. Success comes easily when you have well written piece that offers information that is valuable.? Getting traffic to your website only takes some information in the resource box at the end of the article: give a brief description of who you are, what you offer and give the link to your site.

Once you have decided the topic of your article (it should be something pertaining to your business and website), you need to look for newsletters that fit your branch of business. In order to get the biggest return on your investment, try to find 10-20 niche newsletters that publish free articles. Find out how many subscribers it reaches and start with the newsletter that has the highest number continue down the list. Don?t forget to wait a few days between submissions to avoid having the same article published by different newsletters on the same day. This could be embarrassing to the newsletter and to you; it could also be costly as the newsletter may deny future submissions from you. Once you finish sending to your list, send your article to a list that keeps articles that newsletters can pull from to send to their subscribers.

Writing good content is very important. Your article should be free of spelling and grammatical errors, offering valuable and true information that answers potential questions of your target audience.

Why you shouldn't use the phrase 'once in a blue moon' this week

A blue moon, that is, a second full moon within one calendar month, is rare, but it still happens every once in a while. Like this coming Friday.

By Stephanie Pappas,?LiveScience Senior Writer / August 29, 2012

This photo of a blue moon was taken from Boca Raton, Fla., on New Year's Eve 2009. Blue moons aren't actually blue-hued, though that's not to say humans haven't seen blue and even green moons.

Your last chance to see a blue moon until 2015 will come around this Friday (Aug. 31), but don't expect an azure hue in the sky.

' + google_ads[0].line2 + '
' + google_ads[0].line3 + '

'; } else if (google_ads.length > 1) { ad_unit += ''; } } document.getElementById("ad_unit").innerHTML += ad_unit; google_adnum += google_ads.length; return; } var google_adnum = 0; google_ad_client = "pub-6743622525202572"; google_ad_output = 'js'; google_max_num_ads = '1'; google_feedback = "on"; google_ad_type = "text"; google_adtest = "on"; google_image_size = '230x105'; google_skip = '0'; // -->

In fact, "blue moon" refers not to color, but to rarity. Blue moons are defined as either the fourth?full moon?in a season, or, more recently, as the second full moon in a month. It's the second definition that covers August's blue moon; the month's first full moon was on Aug. 1.

Blue moons happen because our calendar months don't precisely sync with the moon's orbit. It takes the moon 29.5 days to wax and wane from full to new to full again. With the exception of February, months are longer than that, meaning that once in a while the timing works out so there are?two full moons?in one month.

Blue moons are best known from the phrase "once in a blue moon," meant to refer to something extremely rare. Two blue moons in a month aren't all that unusual, however; they occur 2.7 years apart on average, though not with great regularity. The last blue moon occurred on Dec. 31, 2009. That "New Year's Eve Blue Moon" also coincided with a partial lunar eclipse for viewers in Europe, Asia, Africa and some parts of Alaska.

Another truly rare event is a year with two blue moons. The last time a single year had two months with two full moons was in 1999. The next time double blue moons will occur is in 2018.

All of these dates are based on a new definition of "blue moon," however. In traditional folklore, blue moons were defined as the fourth full moon in a season (three being the norm). But that definition shifted in 1946, when a writer for Sky and Telescope magazine simplified the definition (or got it wrong, depending on your perspective) to the two-in-a-month phenomenon. The simpler definition caught on.

The moon will be at its fullest at 9:58 a.m. EDT (1358 GMT) on Friday. The?next blue moon?will occur on July 31, 2015.

Short Sales vs Foreclosures: The Banks ... - The Real Estate Faction

by The Real Estate Faction on August 30, 2012

by The KCM Crew on August 24, 2012

For months now, we have been letting everyone know that banks were going to begin shifting their focus when liquidating distressed properties. They would start supporting short sales over foreclosures. There is no longer any doubt this is now the new normal.

In a recent news release, the FHFA announced new guidelines to streamline the short sale process.

FHFA Acting Director Edward J. DeMarco on the new guidelines:

?These new guidelines demonstrate FHFA?s and Fannie Mae?s and Freddie Mac?s commitment to enhancing and streamlining processes to avoid foreclosure and stabilize communities.?

You can see the new guidelines here.

In a DSNews article, both Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac reaffirmed their desire to proceed with short sales rather than foreclosures.

Leslie Peeler, SVP, National Servicing Organization, Fannie Mae:

?Short sales have become an increasingly important tool in preventing foreclosures and stabilizing communities. We want to help as many homeowners avoid foreclosure as possible. It is vital that servicers, junior lien holders and mortgage insurers step up to the plate with us.?

Tracy Mooney, SVP Single-Family Servicing & REO at Freddie Mac:

?These changes will make it clear that Freddie Mac servicers have the authority to approve short sales for more borrowers facing the most frequently seen hardships. These changes will further empower the industry to minimize foreclosures and help Freddie Mac in its mission to minimize credit losses and fortify a national housing recovery.?

When developing your business plan for 2013 you need to take into consideration that short sales are going to dramatically increase over the next 18 months.

Could a cancer drug prevent learning disabilities in some kids?

ScienceDaily (Aug. 29, 2012) ? A drug originally developed to stop cancerous tumors may hold the potential to prevent abnormal brain cell growth and learning disabilities in some children, if they can be diagnosed early enough, a new animal study suggests.

The surprising finding sets the stage for more research on how anti-tumor medication might be used to protect the developing brains of young children with the genetic disease neurofibromatosis 1 -- and other diseases affecting the same cellular signaling pathway.

The findings, made in mice, are reported in the journal Cell by scientists at the University of Michigan Medical School and their colleagues. The results are also important to understanding the stem cells that become different brain cells.

Neurofibromatosis 1, or NF1, affects one in every 3,000 children, and causes benign tumors to grow throughout the body, large head size and other issues. Many children with NF1 also struggle with learning to read, write, do math and behave well.

This impact on brain function is considered the most common serious issue caused by NF1, and often appears before other symptoms, except for brown patches on the skin that are often mistaken for birthmarks. But while the tumors that erupt mostly later in life have been well-studied, NF1's effect on brain function isn't understood.

In the new paper, the team studied neural stem cells -- a kind of master cell that can become any type of neural tissue. In newborn mice with two copies of the genetic mutation that causes NF1, neural stem cells in a key area of the brain were far more likely to produce a kind of "helper" nerve cell called glia. They produced far fewer cells called neurons, which send and receive crucial signals in the brain and body.

The scientists then took aim at this abnormal cell growth by giving the mice an experimental drug that has already been used in clinical trials for advanced cancer. Called PD0325901, the drug blocks a specific action within cells called the MEK/ERK pathway. It's one of a class of drugs known as MEK inhibitors.

Mice with the NF1 mutation that got the drug from birth developed normally -- in stark contrast to mice with the same genetic mutations that didn't receive the drug. The untreated mice appeared normal at birth, but within a few days had become hunched and scruffy, with abnormal growth of their bodies and brain cells.

The new paper's senior author, Yuan Zhu, Ph.D., cautions that the particular drug in the trial may not be appropriate to give to children who have been diagnosed with NF1. But other MEK inhibitors are being developed against cancer.

"The important thing is that we have shown that by treating during this brief window of time early in life, when neural stem cells in a developing brain still have time to 'decide' what kind of cell to become, we can cause a lasting effect on neural development," he says. Zhu is an associate professor of internal medicine, in the Division of Molecular Medicine and Genetics, and in the Department of Cell & Developmental Biology, at the Medical School.

The scientists didn't study the drug's effect on the behavior or learning ability of the mice, nor their tendency to develop benign brain tumors that can occur in NF1. In order for any such drug-based intervention to work most effectively, he notes, it would have to be given soon after developmental delays or benign tumors are noted in an infant or toddler, and after a NF1 diagnosis is made.

About half of all people with NF1 inherited the mutated gene from a parent, while about half developed it spontaneously in the womb. The disease affects individual patients very differently -- one child born to a parent with mild NF1 can have a severe form of the disease, while their siblings can have mild or moderate symptoms.

Some people with NF1 have a "double hit" form of the disease, where both copies of the gene are mutated in certain body cells. The second mutation, the scientists say, likely occurs in a neural stem cell that goes on to produce unusual neural cells. These patients often have severe learning disabilities, and an enlarged corpus callosum -- a structure that connects the two halves of the brain and contains a large concentration of glia, the same cells that the mice in the new study had larger numbers of.

In addition to NF1, the researchers predict that their findings may have importance for patients with other genetic conditions that affect the same general cell-signaling pathway called RAS. Collectively called neuro-cardio-facial-cutaneous (NCFC) syndromes or ''RASopathies," they include Leopard syndrome, Noonan syndrome, Costello syndrome and Leguis syndrome -- all of which, like NF1, affect the brains, circulation system and the face or head.

The new research is based on several other discoveries made by current or former U-M faculty. The gene for NF1 was discovered in the late 1980s by Francis Collins, M.D., Ph.D. when he was a faculty member at the U-M Medical School, together with colleagues from other institutions. Collins is now director of the National Institutes of Health. That discovery paved the way for a genetic test that can now help definitively diagnose children with NF1, and guide their treatment.

Judith Sebolt Leopold, Ph.D., a research associate professor of radiology at the U-M Medical School, was a key member of the research team that developed PD0325901 while she worked at the Pfizer Research Laboratory formerly located in Ann Arbor.

The drug was first used in a cancer clinical trial in 2005, which was stopped when side effects on the retinas of some participants' eyes were noted. A new trial, using the drug in combination with another one, and comparing that combination with another drug combination, is now under way. Other MEK inhibitors, or MEKi drugs, are also in testing around the world, as scientists zero in on the RAS pathway as an important player in all kinds of cancer including melanoma.

In addition to Zhu, the research team includes U-M postdoctoral research fellow and former Zhu graduate student Yuan Wang, Ph.D.; Edward Kim, B.S.; former postdoctoral research fellow Xiaojing Wang, Ph.D.; and colleagues from other institutions Bennett G. Novitch, Kazuaki Yoshikawa and Long-Sheng Chang.

Typhoon pounds South Korea, smashes ships; 9 dead

SEOUL, South Korea (AP) ? A powerful typhoon pounded South Korea with strong winds and heavy rain Tuesday, killing nine and churning up rough seas that smashed two Chinese fishing ships into rocks and forced the coast guard to perform a daring rescue of survivors.

Rescuers saved 12 fishermen and searched for 10 still missing from the ships that hit rocks off South Korea's southern Jeju island. Five fishermen were killed, officials said.

Separately, at least four other people died as Typhoon Bolaven knocked out power to hundreds of thousands of South Koreans, canceled flights and temporarily halted joint war games by U.S. and South Korean military forces.

North Korea, which is still struggling to rebuild from massive floods and a devastating drought before that, was next in the typhoon's path. Heavy rain and strong winds hit many parts of the country Tuesday, a day that was supposed to be a North Korean celebration of its young people.

The typhoon knocked down hundreds of trees, destroyed power cables and caused blackouts in the western cities of Kaesong and Haeju, the North's official Korean Central News Agency said. It said damage was expected to grow as the typhoon moves across the country.

Off South Korea's Jeju island, dangerous waves kept rescue vessels from approaching the wrecked fishing ships. The coast guard used a special gun to shoot rope to one ship so officers could pull themselves over and bring the fishermen back to shore, coast guard spokesman Ko Chang-keon said.

Eighteen fishermen survived. The coast guard rescued 12, and the others swam or were washed ashore.

South Korea issued a storm warning for the capital, Seoul, as Bolaven battered the country's south and west, knocking over street lights and church spires and ripping signs from stores. A large container box crushed an apartment janitor to death, a woman fell to her death from a rooftop where she kept dried red peppers and another person died after bricks hit a house, according to disaster and fire officials. An 80-year-old man died after a small makeshift building fell on him, officials said.

Strong wind gusts left Seoul streets covered with leaves, garbage and branches. More than 15,000 schools canceled classes, and businesses and homes taped windows or pasted the glass with wet newspapers to keep them from shattering.

About 1.7 million South Korean homes and businesses lost power, the National Emergency Management Agency said, though all but about 200,000 had electricity restored by Tuesday night.

More than 80 families were left homeless because of floods or storm damage. Nearly 200 flights were canceled, 860 hectares (2,130 acres) of farmland were flooded and 32 ships were damaged, the agency said in a statement.

In Pyongyang, North Korea's capital, Associated Press cameras captured cars splashing through slightly flooded streets, spraying people on crowded sidewalks who scrambled to avoid the water. Residents appeared to be going about their daily lives, though many wore rain boots and jackets, angling their umbrellas to fight the wind and rain.

The bad weather came on North Korea's first Youth Day since new leader Kim Jong Un took over in December.

Big rainstorms often mean catastrophe in the North because of poor drainage, deforestation and decrepit infrastructure. North Korea is still trying to help people with food, shelter, health care and clean water after heavy flooding in July, according to a recent United Nations situation report. More than 170 died nationwide, and tens of thousands of homes were destroyed in the floods, according to official North Korean accounts.

Many flood victims still live in tents with limited access to water and other basic facilities, the U.N. report said, and there is worry about increased malnutrition in coming weeks. Two South Korean aid groups had been scheduled to visit the North Korean city of Kaesong for talks Wednesday on flood aid, but the North on Tuesday canceled the meeting, according to aid group officials. One of the groups said the North cited strained ties between the two Koreas.

Weather officials had warned that Bolaven would be the strongest typhoon to hit the region in several years, but its gusts weren't as powerful as predicted.

The typhoon hit the southern Japanese island of Okinawa on Monday, injuring four people but doing less damage than feared before moving off to sea. More than 75,000 households lost power.

Farther south, another typhoon, Tembin, doubled back and hit Taiwan three days after drenching the same region before blowing out to sea. Fierce winds and rain toppled coconut trees in the beach resort town of Hengchun.

In Manila, the Philippine weather agency reissued typhoon warnings to residents and fishermen for Tembin, which blew out of the archipelago over the weekend. Fishing boats in the north were urged not to venture out to sea while larger ships were warned of possible big waves and heavy rains.

The Board Game Family Board Games hit Big Time with TableTop ...

We don?t know if you?ve noticed, but board games are surging big time. Last year we wrote about how more designer and strategy board games and card games are showing up on big box retailer shelves like Walmart and Target. Even Barnes & Noble, a major book retailer has greatly expanded their board game section over the last year.

Well, these great family board games must be doing well because that surge is still rolling. So it?s no surprise that a new online TV show dedicated to board games is getting such a large audience.

TableTop with Wil Wheaton is a web series that?s part of Geek & Sundry ? a new online TV channel that launched in April 2012. Geek & Sundry is an internet community centered around web videos with shows about comics, games, books, hobbies, and more. From the outset, TableTop became an instant hit.

TableTop board games

Sit down with a bunch of friends and have a great time with board games.

In every episode of TableTop, one or more board games are explained briefly by Wheaton and then he and his guests, usually web or TV personalities, play the game. It?s been a fantastic way to show the fun of sitting down with friends to play board games.

The first episode of TableTop was their episode on Small World and it?s great. I could tell right off that the show would be a hit. That?s why I?m not surprised to see that the Small World episode has over 700,000 views. I?d say that?s definitely the most watched board game YouTube video ever.

To get a quick feel for the show, check out the trailer for TableTop.

It?s easy to see how big a hit TableTop has been because Target is now promoting the bunch of board games featured on TableTop.

So far TableTop has covered these great games:

  • Small World
  • Ticket to Ride
  • Castle Panic
  • Munchkin
  • Settlers of Catan
  • Zombie Dice
  • Say Anything
  • Gloom
  • Fiasco
  • Elder Sign

We?re really looking forward to the next season and even more shoutouts to fantastic board games!

Fight for women's vote defines presidential race

ARVADA, Colo. (AP) ? A nation at war, crippling joblessness and a looming budget standoff that could wreck the economy have been overshadowed in recent days by an issue that polls show doesn't even crack voters' lists of top 10 concerns ? abortion.

Missouri Republican Todd Akin's comment that women who were victims of "legitimate rape" rarely become pregnant touched off furious maneuvering by Republicans and Democrats alike. It's the latest iteration of a campaign driven by both sides' need to court a small slice of the American electorate.

Suburban women will play an outsized role in deciding whether President Barack Obama keeps his job.

The issue reverberated Sunday as Mitt Romney accused Obama's campaign of sinking to a sad low by trying to link the GOP candidate to Akin.

Author: Gagan Kainth Article Tools: With over 500 ?paid survey? companies on the Internet, it?s clear that this is a business that?s here to stay. Some of the sites offer you an opportunity to ?get rich quick? while others offer you a chance to earn a few extra dollars in your spare time participating in panels. Can you make a living off of these sites? You sure can ? but not by taking surveys. There simply isn?t enough time in each day to earn a viable living off of the online survey gig.

So how can you make real money with these websites?

It?s very simple. You create a ?survey portal.? While not easy to set up,ralph lauren homme, once established, it?s a way you can earn money and not even have to fill out one survey. The set-up fees are minimal, doudoune moncler, but some computer knowledge is required.

Most of the online survey companies offer a ?referral? fee for directing those who want to earn money by taking surveys to their site. And this is where the money is.

The first thing you need to do is purchase a domain name. You will want to get one that is catchy and easy to remember as well as spell. Once our domain name is secured, you?ll need to set up a website. It doesn?t have to be elaborate at all, but should be attractive to the viewer. And, of course, you?ll need to have a host. Most host companies charge about $25 a month. You want to make sure you acquire a host that allows ads. Some hosting sites like Yahoo are very user friendly, armani, but don?t allow advertising.

You?ll have to do a bit of research into the various survey companies that offer a referral fee. You can sign up for each site and you?ll receive a ?referral link.? This link will be posted on your website in the form of a ?hyperlink.? You?ll want to get as many referral links as you can to post on your website. When researching the companies, make sure that referral payments are made in cash,Abercrombie, not points, and that you can receive them by check or through Paypal. If you decide to accept those that offer points, you?ll have to monitor that site to make sure you cash in the points for cash periodically. Do not bother with any site that offers points in exchange for sweepstakes entries or prizes; you?re wasting your time.

Some survey sites offer ?affiliate? programs. This is where you can actually post an advertising banner on your website. It won?t cost you any money, polo ralph lauren, and every time someone actually clicks on the banner and signs up for the survey company, you?ll get paid.

You?ll want to use a lot of visual effects in your website giving the impression that anyone can make a living online doing surveys. I?ve seen a lot of survey portals, many of them have photos of large homes, pools, exotic vacation spots and fancy cars. Be careful that you don?t use any images subject to copyright.

You can also add some ?testimonials? to your portal site. You have to be careful not to deliberately mislead people; but an ambiguous statement such as ?I was working 56 hours a week at a dead end job and now earn over $10,000 a month ? Brenda K.? are not illegal. Because you?re not directly saying that doing surveys is the reason Brenda K. is now earning $10,moncler pas cher,000 a month. Brenda K. could have won the lottery and is taking her winnings in a monthly payout.

In addition to having several hyperlinks directing people to the survey sites for which you will receive a referral fee, you can also add other advertising on your website. There are several companies that offer pennies on the dollar every time someone clicks on their ad that?s on your website. This is just another way to generate income for your survey portal site.

'One small step for (a) man': Was Neil Armstrong misquoted?

Upon taking a "small step" onto the surface of the moon in 1969, Neil Armstrong uttered what would become one of history's most famous one-liners. But strangely, what he actually said is far from clear.

Listeners back on Earth heard, "That's one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind." But?Armstrong, who died Saturday?(Aug. 25) at the age of 82, maintained afterwards that he actually said something slightly different: "That's one small step for a man..."

"It's just that people just didn't hear [the 'a']," Armstrong told the press after the Apollo 11 mission.

That little indefinite article makes a big difference, semantically speaking. Without it, "man" abstractly represents all of humanity, just like "mankind." Thus, the quote is essentially, ''That's one small step for mankind, one giant leap for mankind."?[Listen to 'One Small Step' Quote]

Despite his initial adamance that he got the grammar right by including the indefinite article, Armstrong acknowledged at a 30-year anniversary event in 1999 that he couldn't hear himself utter the "a" in the audio recording of his moonwalk transmission, according to the Associated Press.

But then, in 2006, computer programmer Peter Shann Ford might have vindicated Armstrong.

Ford downloaded the audio recording of the moon man's words from a NASA website and analyzed the statement with software that allows disabled people to communicate via computers using their nerve impulses.

In a graphical representation of sound waves of the famous sentence, Ford said he found evidence that the missing "a" had been spoken after all: It was a 35-millisecond-long bump of sound between "for" and "man" that would have been too brief for human ears to hear.

"I have reviewed the data and Peter Ford's analysis of it, and I find the technology interesting and useful," Armstrong said in a statement. ''I also find his conclusion persuasive. Persuasive is the appropriate word."

And so was "a," whether spoken or not.

Downloading Spyware Removers: Believe Prior to, not Soon after Data

Data Breach

Data Breach

Just envision: you might be walking, say, towards your vehicle, and all of a sudden somebody comes as much as you and begins? polishing your shoes. Or even superior example?a guy you have never ever met prior to opens the hood of your vehicle, says the engine is broken and tries to persuade you to add some gadget your vehicle desperately needs?and now! What you?d do if such a crazy factor happened? Wouldn?t you readily accept the support, paid for it and thank this unknown altruist for his generosity? Why not? Plenty of men and women are performing precisely exactly the same on their PCs.

A pop-up ad providing you a pop-up blocker?funny, is not it? With those various spyware removers it is not even funny. Obtrusive advertising in itself isn?t necessarily suspicious (it could be just a sign that the company?s advertising and marketing director is stupid), but some dishonest software program vendors are applying deceitful tactics in advertising and marketing their anti-spy solutions (typically of low or zero good quality), attempting to make dollars fast.

Nearly any item might be faked, but with software program it?s particularly straightforward. It?s also incredibly tempting to make the most of massive demand for security solutions with out significantly effort. The current story using a placebo item Spyware Assassin proves it.

What a easy but effective (and disgusting) scheme?to provide users a no cost program scan, which is bound to come across spyware (even if there is not any?because no scan in fact takes location), then sell them a ?solution? to this challenge for only $30. This item (Spyware Assassin) appears to be about as fake as spyware discovered on a ?clean? PC. Consequently, the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) lately took action against MaxTheater?the firm which distributed Spyware Assassin. The web site applied for selling this bogus anti-spyware software program has been taken down.

Users who had been literally forced to purchase Spy Wiper or Spy Deleter, or people who bear in mind the notorious litigation in fall 2004, can say many points about authors and sellers of such programs?if written down, their remarks can make paper blush. In brief, Seismic Entertainment Productions, Inc., an additional vendor prosecuted by FTC, applied much more impudent tactics than MaxTheater. Computers had been infected with actual spyware and adware to be later ?cured? with Spy Wiper or Spy Deleter. The spyware changed the consumers? house pages, changed their search engines, and generated continuous flow of pop-up ads.

We all have already been told not to be too credulous; nonetheless a lot of us fall for the advertising bait. You need to have already heard or read ideas like these, but perhaps they?re worth reading when additional:Tip 1

If a organization is unscrupulous in deciding upon indicates of advertising: tone of its ads is aggressive, they?re scaring a prospective consumer and demanding immediate action (scan and technique, install/buy/download some program NOW or some thing nasty will take place), if a firm is working with pop-ups and particularly spam to distribute its ?message?? you?d far better remain clear

Tip 2

If a business is extremely young and but claims to supply one thing truly wide-range and universal, or far better to say, panacea-like, remedy, with 100% guarantee?it?s most most likely a lie. No item is capable of protecting your PC against all of the malware. Only irresponsible vendors give such false promises, and only naive users think them.

Tip 3

Even so name the item bear, the name isn?t the item itself. Cool names do not describe functions, excellent, or reliability with the program, although imply them (normally it is not accurate). Words ?perfect? or ?advanced? within the product?s name could sound superior, but do not at all mean this item works effectively or is far better compared with other people.

The conclusions are rather straightforward. Do not think every thing ads say. Do invest time on background checks just before downloading, and you will not need to waste a lot of time, income and nerves afterwards.

To make certain that the baby effectively will grow and develops, you must try to eat yet another 200-300 calories daily, particularly for the last six months time of childbearing.

If your significant other are planning to start up a household, you must each visit using a medical professional for any verify-up. This lets you plan exams which are based on your individual medical history. This can be a chance to ask questions about being pregnant and make certain you know what you are getting into.

Preserving physical exercise that may be safe for pregnant women is an integral part of the healthful methods you need to get while being pregnant. This has a number of results, which includes preventing miscarriages, lowering work time, and making it simpler to slim down right after having a baby.

It really is typical in the several weeks of being pregnant to have difficulties with acid reflux disease. To lower the chance of acid reflux disease, attempt steering clear of causes for example hot foods, food products high in acid solution, chocolate and carbonated refreshments.

The first individual a pregnant woman should go to for suggestions is her new mother. There are several great ideas you possibly will not be aware of, that your particular mother can reveal to you. Look to her for guidance equally while being pregnant and following childbirth. Regardless, opening the lines of communication will steer the right way to an incredible assistance process later on.

A revolutionary tool created by scientists at the University of Sheffield has enabled researchers to analyse nanometer-sized devices without destroying them for the first time, opening the door to a new wave of technologies.

The nuclear magnetic resonance apparatus developed by the University's Department of Physics and Astronomy will allow for further developments and new applications for nanotechnology which is increasingly used in harvesting solar energy, computing, communication developments and also in the medical field.

Scientists can now analyse nanostructures at an unprecedented level of detail without destroying the materials in the process, a limitation researchers across the world faced before the Sheffield experts' breakthrough.

Dr Alexander Tartakovskii, who led a team of researchers, said: "We have developed a new important tool for microscopy analysis of nanostructures. The very tiny quantities of matter used in nanostructures the behavior of electrons and photons is governed by new quantum effects, quite different from what happens in bulk materials.

"Development requires careful structural analysis, in order to understand how the nanostructures are formed, and how we can build them to enhance and control their useful properties. Existing structural analysis methods, key for the research and development of new materials, are invasive: a nanostructure would be irreversibly destroyed in the process of the experiment, and, as a result, the important link between the structural and electronic or photonic properties would usually be lost. This limitation is now overcome by our new techniques, which rely on inherently non-invasive nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) probing."

The results open a new way of nano-engineering, a full characterisation of a new material and new semiconductor nano-device without destroying them meaning more research and development and device fabrication processes.

Dr Tarakovskii added: "We have developed new techniques which allowed unprecedented sensitivity and enhancement of the NMR signal in nanostructures. Particular nanostructures of interest in our research are semiconductor quantum dots, which are researched widely for their promising photonic applications, and potential for the use in a new type of computer hardware employing quantum logic.

"The result of our experiments was quite unexpected and changed our understanding of the architecture of these nanomaterials: we learned new information about the chemical composition of quantum dots, and also how atom alignment inside the dots deviates from that of a perfect crystal. Importantly, many more measurements of optical and magnetic properties can be done on the same quantum dots which have undergone the NMR probing."

The development of the new techniques and all experimental work was carried out by Dr Evgeny Chekhovich in the group of Dr Alexander Tartakovskii at the Department of Physics and Astronomy in Sheffield. Quantum dot samples used in this work have also been fabricated in Sheffield, in the EPSRC National Facility for III-V Semiconductor Technology.

Commercial drivers could be understating sleep apnoea symptoms for fear of losing their licence [ Back to EurekAlert! ] Public release date: 25-Aug-2012

Vienna, Austria: People who drive commercial vehicles, such as buses, taxis, trucks and aeroplanes, could be incorrectly reporting their symptoms of sleep apnoea due to their fears of endangering their employment, according to a new study.

The research will be presented on 1 September 2012 at the European Respiratory Society's (ERS) Annual Congress in Vienna. All the abstracts from the ERS Congress will be publicly available online today (26 August 2012).

People with the sleep apnoea suffer frequent disruptions to their breathing during sleep, leaving them with headaches, drowsiness and sometimes depression during the day. Obstructive sleep apnoea is a well-established risk for traffic accidents and commercial vehicle drivers could lose their licence if their illness is perceived to be compromising safety while driving.

The regular treatment for sleep apnoea is continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP), which uses a mask and other equipment to generate a stream of air to keep the upper airway open during sleep. As commercial drivers regularly do shift work, they don't follow regular patterns of sleep and also do not always sleep in one place; this makes adherence to CPAP treatment more difficult.

Researchers examined 37 commercial vehicle drivers with sleep apnoea and compared them with a control group of 74 patients. Both groups had similar characteristics of age, body mass index (BMI) and similar numbers of disturbances suffered on average during the night. Both groups also underwent treatment using CPAP.

Levels of sleepiness were then analysed using the Epworth Sleepiness Score; a well-established short questionnaire used to give levels of sleepiness during the day time. The survey provides a score, which is the sum of 8 items and can range between 0 and 24.The higher the score, the higher the person's level of daytime sleepiness

At the start of the study, commercial drivers reported an average score of 8.1 on the sleepiness scale, compared with an average of 11.0 reported by non-commercial drivers, despite a similar number of disturbances at night between the two groups. The difference was also seen after 6 months of treatment using CPAP therapy with the drivers reporting an average sleepiness score of 4.8 and non-drivers reporting an average of 7.7.

The results also showed that drivers received less treatment (only receiving CPAP for an average of 75% of days, compared with 83%) and also had more unscheduled visits to the clinic, which suggests they were struggling with their symptoms.

The authors speculate that the lower scores reported by the commercial drivers could be due to drivers under-scoring their sleepiness levels for fear of losing their licence permissions.

Lead author, Dr. Werner Strobel from University Hospital, Switzerland, said: "Our study suggests that commercial drivers are playing down their levels of sleepiness for fear of losing their jobs. Although this is very difficult to prove, both the group of drivers and the group of non-drivers began the study with a similar number of disturbances during the night. You would therefore expect their reports of sleepiness to be similar to begin with, however the drivers estimated their levels of sleepiness as lower than the non-drivers. This pattern continued throughout the course of the study, with drivers reporting lower symptoms, yet receiving less treatment and making more unscheduled visits to the clinic.

"We can assume from these results that commercial drivers with sleep apnoea symptoms could be under-reporting their sleepiness in order to protect their job. These results should be taken into account by healthcare professionals who are treating this group of people."

Dan Smyth from the Irish Sleep Apnoea Trust, said: "We know that an above average number of people involved in commercial driving have sleep apnoea. It is also known that many of them, mainly through ignorance of the condition and fear of losing their livelihood, are afraid to report it to their employer or seek help. The findings of this study confirm the current situation and show further evidence that Relative Advocacy and Support Groups, with the support of our legislators, must deliver a positive message on the benefits of treating Sleep Apnoea to the Transport Industry."
