According to Answers.com, over 600 million pounds, or $1.95 billion, in candy will be sold during the Halloween season. I guess that explains why my sweet tooth has been nagging at me lately. I'm surrounded by all these treats.
If you're looking for a treat that is a little friendlier to your waistline than the mountain o' chocolate found at your local grocer, I encourage you to stop by Washington-Centerville Public Library and check out our selection of magazines. I always knew the library had magazines, but I was shocked when I heard that we subscribe to over 300 different titles! A quick scan of the shelves and you can literally find magazines on any of these subjects:
- Celebrity Scoop -- Magazines like Life & Style, People, Entertainment Weekly and US Weekly are as indulgent as sneaking candy from your kid's Halloween bag.
- Hobbies & Crafts -- Titles like Better Homes & Gardens, Creating Keepsakes, and Cooking with Paula will arm you with all the ways you can decorate with pumpkins or use the innards to make something yummy!
- Parenting & Family -- Parents, Family Fun, Good Housekeeping and others offer fun ideas for fall family activities and outings.
- Business & Investing -- Consumer Reports, Fast Company, Forbes and Business Week provide current trends and information to help?keep 4th quarter sales trong.
