Sixth-ranked Cornell (10-1) won five of its matches against the 16th-ranked George Washington in three games, plus the No. 9 match by default. It was the first time the programs have met.
?
The Big Red defeated 17th-ranked Middlebury, 6-3, and 14th-ranked Bates, 7-2, earlier in the weekend. The top six spots in the order provided the points against the Panthers, with Arjun Gupta playing up to the top spot and winning in three games over Jay Dolan on Friday. In descending order, Owen Butler, Ryan Todd, Bryan Keating, Graham Dietz and Abhijit Malik all won their matches, then repeated the feat after moving one spot down in the order the following day against Bates. Geoff Keating was added to Saturday's lineup, fighting off Jason Shrubb in five games at the No. 9 position.
?
Todd and Dietz won all three of their matches from the middle of the order to improve to team-best individual records of 10-1. Malik also has only one loss this season to go with eight victories after his three-match sweep this weekend.

Cornell returns home for its next two matches against teams with higher national rankings. No. 5 Rochester visits Belkin Squash Courts at 6 p.m. Wednesday, then No. 2 Trinity will serve as the opposition at 11 a.m. on Sunday, Jan. 27.
