Is my iPad 2 "locked"?

Hi all,

I'll be putting my iPad 2 3G up for sale soon, but have a question regarding it being locked to a carrier.

I bought it around the launch date on contract from 3, so it was subsidised. I've since paid up-front for the remainder of the contract (April '13). Is there any reason why I can't take the SIM card out and carry on with my now pre-paid allowance in the new iPad?

Also, when I sell it should I advertise that I bought it from 3? Or can anybody put whatever SIM they like in there? I'm hoping as I bought it on contract my specific SIM isn't tied to that specific iPad!
